The Kayiwas'

Recent body of work produced over the course of the winter 2021-2022. In this series, I conduct a visual of my relationship with my husband and our trip to New York City. Portraying the many colors of the city and the business of the streets I try to symbolize what our time there meant for us and how our relationship came about through the depiction of the early stages of our union-ship. Seen through the work, I explore moments of us having lunch at Washington Heights, posing idly at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, us amongst a crowd at Times Square Manhattan. With my partner as my muse, the purpose of this series is depict my sexuality and my identity. In one of the gay capitals of the world, I try to treasure the beauty of our marriage and love amongst the traffic of New York.
